About This Template

British Gas is a major UK energy and home-services brand supplying residential gas and electricity to customers across Great Britain. This blank template reflects the visual hierarchy commonly found in British Gas household energy statements, including the account summary, billing period, payment information, tariff details and fuel usage calculations.

The file contains no customer information, active account credentials or provider-issued records. British Gas customers can access their genuine bills and statements through the company’s official online account.

What This Template Is For

This British Gas bill design template can be used for:

  1. UI and UX mockups — create billing dashboards, customer portals and energy-management interface concepts.
  2. QA testing — test document-upload forms, file previews, PDF rendering and document-management workflows.
  3. Education and training — demonstrate how residential energy information may be organised without exposing customer data.
  4. Design portfolios — present typography, data-table, dashboard and document-layout skills in a controlled sample project.

The template should always remain clearly labelled as a sample and must not contain information belonging to an actual customer.

If You Need a Real British Gas Bill

British Gas customers should obtain bills directly from the official British Gas online account. Bills and statements are normally available in the account’s billing area, where customers can view their energy information and manage payments.

Customers paying by Direct Debit may find documents under the Statements section, while customers paying after receiving a bill may find them under Bills. Previous and current documents can also be downloaded through the account.

For missing documents, account-access problems or corrections, use the official British Gas customer support page.

When renting a property and the energy account is held by the landlord, ask the landlord or managing agent for a signed tenancy or occupancy letter. Check which alternative documents the organisation requesting the information accepts.

Why You Shouldn’t Buy a Completed Utility Bill Online

Purchasing a completed bill from an unofficial seller and presenting it as though it were issued by an energy provider is fraudulent. Entering a name, address, balance or account number into a document does not create a corresponding customer record in the supplier’s systems.

Information may be checked against provider records or other independent sources, so an unofficial document is unlikely to work and could lead to rejection, account restrictions or legal consequences. Use only documents obtained from your own energy account or another genuinely accepted source.

British Gas Bill Structure

British Gas explains that residential energy bills combine consumption charges with daily standing charges. The company also identifies tariff information, meter readings and supply-point references as important parts of an energy statement.

1. Account and balance summary

A British Gas-style statement may display:

  • Customer or account number
  • Start and end dates of the billing period
  • Opening balance
  • Energy charges for the period
  • Payments, refunds or account adjustments
  • New balance

British Gas states that its bill summary can include energy costs with VAT, payments made during the billing period and any relevant adjustments.

2. Unit rates and energy consumption

Gas and electricity consumption is measured in kilowatt hours, shown as kWh. The consumption cost is calculated using the number of kWh recorded for the billing period and the applicable unit rate, normally presented in pence per kWh.

A dual-fuel layout should provide separate calculation areas for gas and electricity because each fuel has its own consumption, unit rate and meter information.

3. Daily standing charges

British energy bills normally include a standing charge for each supplied fuel. This is a fixed daily charge that applies even when no energy is consumed.

Gas and electricity standing charges may differ depending on the tariff, payment method, meter type and region.

4. Tariff information

The tariff section may include:

  • Tariff name
  • Fixed or variable tariff type
  • Gas and electricity unit rates
  • Daily standing charges
  • Tariff end date
  • Applicable exit fees
  • Payment method
  • Estimated annual consumption

British Gas identifies these details as part of the tariff summary available on an energy bill.

5. Meter readings and supply references

The usage calculation may identify whether meter readings are actual or estimated. Smart meters may send readings automatically, while other accounts may use manually submitted or estimated readings.

Electricity supply points are identified using an MPAN, while gas supply points use an MPRN. These numbers identify the individual supply point rather than the customer personally.

6. Great Britain energy-market details

Households in Great Britain can choose between energy suppliers and tariffs. Standard variable or default tariffs are subject to the Ofgem energy price cap, which limits the unit rates and standing charges suppliers can apply rather than limiting the customer’s total bill.

Ofgem reviews the price cap every three months. The applicable rates may vary by region, fuel, payment method and meter type.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this as a real British Gas bill?

No. This is an independently created blank design resource and is not connected to an active British Gas energy account. It cannot confirm your address, identity, account ownership, payments or energy service.

Why can’t I fill it in and use it?

Adding personal details does not turn a design file into a provider-issued statement. Presenting an independently completed template as an official account document would be fraudulent, and its information would not correspond to an actual record held by British Gas.

How do I get a real British Gas bill?

Log in through the official British Gas account page and open the billing or statements section. You can access current or previous documents associated with your account.

Contact British Gas customer support if a bill is unavailable, contains incorrect information or you cannot access your account.

Does the template contain personal information?

No. The downloadable version is blank and should remain free of actual customer names, addresses, account numbers, meter references and payment details.
